Return to German Emigrants to South Australia

barque Alice Brooks, 213 tons, Captain William Davidson, from Melbourne December 1st 1855, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia, 7th December 1855 with passengers, ex barque Bielefeldt, 396 tons, Captain H.S.F. Henert, from Hamburg 9th August 1855, arrived at Melbourne, 25th November 1855 *

The Argus, Monday 26 November 1855:—
Arrival: November 25th, Bielefeldt, Hamburg barque, 396 tons, H. S. F. Henert, from Hamburg 9th August, with sixty-four intermediate and steerage passengers. Scherft and Co. agents.... see original Bielefeldt passenger list * ... two of these families had arrived at Melbourne aboard the barque Asa Sawyer [ November 26 - Asa Sawyer, US barque, 492 tons, Isaac D. Gates, from Hamburg 6th August, with twenty-two passengers.] ... Pumpa and Sapiatzer families.

An index from the State Library South Australia (SLSA) shows that 46 German migrants should have been on the Alice Brooks, I have been able to find 47 as listed below. — Regards Robert.

note.— There are very few surviving original lists of German passengers, so the data below has been compiled from a variety of sources, such as contemporary newspaper(s), internet sources, input from descendants and the South Australian Heraldry Genealogy society, (SAGHS).
I know the list is incomplete and may contain errors, so any feedback with additions or corrections, will be most appreciated. Please contact me using the link above. Regards Robert, Adelaide
