South Australian Register Monday, 16th December 1850
Sunday, December 15th.— the ship Australia, 600 tons, Meyer, Master, from Hamburg 7th September, with 115 German passengers.
South Australian Register Tuesday, December 17th.— Passengers per Australia, arrival reported yesterday, for Sydney & Adelaide .... one child died, named John Mictean (Johann Mickan)

Sydney Shipping Gazette January 24th, 1851
Arrived at Sydney.— January 18th, Hamburgh ship Australia, 650 tons, Captain Meyer, from Adelaide the 9th instant.
Passengers.— Mr. W. Kirchner, the Prussian and Hamburg Consul, lady, three children [two son & one daughter] and servant ; Mr. Frederick Bingmann, lady [& son & two daughters] and servant ; Mr. Henry Bingmann, lady, daughter and servant ; Mr. Charles Lintennis ; Miss Louisa Kurz ; Mr. O. Burrmann [Bormann], M.D., and thirty-one in the steerage. [additionally, Christiana Motelos & infant, both died "in childbirth" January 16th]
Cargo.— 49,060 bricks ; 78 packages baskets ; 2,420 deals ; 232 crates, 46 barrels, 79 cases, 301 boxes, 3 bales, 234 packages, 20 quarter casks, 20 half-pipes and 20 demijohns merchandise ; 80 blocks asphalt ; 65 rams and 15 ewes, to order.
