barque British Empire, 640 tons, Captain James McEwen, from London 18th April 1850 / Plymouth 30th April 1850, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 14th August 1850.

The South Australian Register Thursday 15th August 1850:-
Wednesday 14th August, the barque British Empire, 612 tons [sic - 640 tons], McEwen, Master, from London 18th April and Plymouth 30th April.
Passengers: Mr. Robert Had, Mr. F.W. Stokes and Dr. Colthurst in the Cabin, and the following Government Emigrants in steerage. — 7th ship from England to S.A. with government passengers for 1850 ; Richard Colthurst, surgeon-superintendent ; no births nor deaths reported on the passage.
