Return to German Emigrants to South Australia

barque Ceres, 414 tons, Captain Schurmann, from Bremen 10th December 1849, via the Downs 20th December 1849, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 21st April 1850

South Australian Register Monday, 22nd April 1850

The Ceres from Bremen
This fine barque, with eighty-one passengers arrived lasy evening, from Bremen, 10th December, and from the Downs the 20th December.
She is fortunate in possessing a most urbane and gentlemanly Commander, and arrived in the usual cleanliness and good order, which distinguishes the German ships bound for this port. The only death was one from casualty. A child accidentally fell overboard and was drowned.

note.— There are very few surviving original lists of German passengers, so the data below has been compiled from a variety of sources, such as contemporary newspaper(s), internet sources, input from descendants and the South Australian Heraldry Genealogy society, (SAGHS).
I know the list is incomplete and may contain errors, so any feedback with additions or corrections, will be most appreciated. Please contact me using the link above. Regards Robert, Adelaide
