Return to German Emigrants to South Australia

ship Malvina Vidal, 959 tons, Captain F.T. Kessal, from Hamburg 22nd September 1856, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 17th January 1857 ... departed Adelaide 1st March, arrived Sydney 13th March 1857

The Maitland Mercury & Hunter River General Advertiser, Tuesday 17 March 1857:—
Sydney Arrival, March 13— Malvina Vidal, Hamburgh ship, 900 tons, Captain Ketels [sic], from Adelaide 1st instant, with 26 passengers.

The Malvina Vidal is originally from Hamburgh, but discharged part of her cargo at Adelaide, where she took on board some wheat and flour for this port.

An index from the State Library South Australia (SLSA) shows that 46 German migrants should have been on the Malvina Vidal, I have been able to find 48 as listed below. — Regards Robert.

note.— There are very few surviving original lists of German passengers, so the data below has been compiled from a variety of sources, such as contemporary newspaper(s), internet sources, input from descendants and the South Australian Heraldry Genealogy society, (SAGHS).
I know the list is incomplete and may contain errors, so any feedback with additions or corrections, will be most appreciated. Please contact me using the link above. Regards Robert, Adelaide
