The Fleets British & American S.N. Co. The British & American Steam Navigation Co. was formed in 1838 and was the first North Atlantic steamship line to start a service. However, disappointing passage times to New York and the loss of the PRESIDENT caused the company to cease trading in 1841. Many thanks to Ted Finch for his assistance in collecting this data.
