Linha de Vapores Portuguezas / Linha de Navegaceo de J.H. Andresen / Andresen Line

Linha de Vapores Portuguezas, also known as "Linha de Navegaceo de J.H.Andresen" and "Andresen Line" was started in the 1840s with a small fleet of sailing ships. They acquired their first steamship in 1860 (DUQUE DO PORTO 268 tons) for cargo service in Brazilian waters. Passenger service started on a triangular service between Antwerp, Oporto, Rio de Janeiro and New York in 1887. Later they made calls at the Azores, UK ports and River Amazon ports. Due to intense competition, and also the death of the founder, the company ceased trading in 1905.

Many thanks to Ted Finch for his assistance in collecting this data. The following list was extracted from various sources. This is not an all inclusive list but should only be used as a guide.
