The Fleets

Transportes Maritimos do Estado / Portuguese State Steamship Line

In 1916 Portugal seized German ships lying in Portuguese ports and between 1919 and 1921 made a few passenger crossings between Lisbon, Azores and Boston / New York. Two of the 1921 voyages also called at New Bedford, Mass. with passengers. The service ceased in 1921.

Many thanks to Ted Finch for his assistance in collecting this data. The following list was extracted from various sources. This is not an all inclusive list but should only be used as a guide. If you would like to know more about a vessel, visit the Ship Descriptions (on-site) or Immigrant Ship web site.
