The FleetsG. D. Tyser & Co.
Founded in 1860 as Tyser & Haviside and traded initially to India. Australia
and New Zealand voyages started in 1864 and in 1873 the firm became G.
D. Tyser & Co. A New York to Australia service commenced in 1898 and in
1912 an emigrant service to Melbourne started in conjunction with Royden's
Indra Line. With the outbreak of the Great War in 1914, the emigrant
service ceased and the company merged to become part of the Commonwealth
& Dominion Line (Port Line).
