The Fleets Vincenzo Finizio, Genoa The ship GOVERNOR was purchased in 1900 by the Societa Genovese di Navigazione a Vapore, managed by John White, a British subject resident in Genoa and made several Palermo - Naples - New York voyages. To comply with Italian law, she was chartered in 1902 to Vincenzo Finizio who continued New York sailings with this ship until 1905. In 1905 Finizio purchased the CITTA DI NEW YORK and made three New York sailings with this ship, but then failed to retain the Italian Government's patent to carry steerage passengers and ceased transatlantic passenger services.
