note: from September 8th 1824, to the
end of navigation season for the year, the cost of steerage passage to
Montreal was reduced for some passengers aboard steamboat Chambly from

was also been reduced, from 2/10/- to 1/10/- ; cabin list is very faded

this is Alexander Allan, father of Sir Hugh Allan of Allan
Line.
Alexander began sailing from Greenock to Quebec in 1819 in his
brig Jean, which in
1824 made two trips arriving for the 2nd trip on October
3rd. Captain
Allan took this side-trip to Montreal before returning to Quebec
and sailing back to Greenock, clearing on October 28th. |
