note: the notation of Waterloo "running with the Lady of the Lake" refers to the Waterloo being ordered to run "head-to-head" with the Lady of the Lake, in a "fare-war," matching fare with fare ; cabin & steerage fares from Quebec to Montreal greatly reduced, with steerage fare dropping as low as sixpence (the regular steerage fare was ten shillings which is 20 times greater than sixpence). The Lady of the Lake belonged to a competitor, James Greenfield. ...
