The Fleets

Ligure Brasiliana, Genoa

Ligure Brasiliana was founded in Genoa in 1897 to run services from Italy to Brazil, Amazon ports and later to the River Plate. The Amazon ports service was abandoned in 1903. The company made one Genoa - Naples - New York voyage with the RIO AMAZONAS in 1903. In 1913 Hamburg America Line bought the entire share capital of the company and in 1914 the name was changed to Transatlantica Italiana Societa Anonima di Navigazione (see Transatlantica Italiana).
